Tasting and food pairings
This Premier Cru is the perfect expression of the mineral character of the Chablis left bank. On the nose, we find mineral purity, intense citrus and chalky notes.
The palate is equally mineral, with good acidity and a chalky finish.
Serve with seafood or fish.
- Chablis 1er Cru Côte de Léchet 2022 - The World of Fine Wine - January 2024 - 87/100
From this stony terroir, a firm, fresh mineral wine, with almond bitterness and citrus notes and a firm finish. 2025-29.
- Chablis 1er Cru "Côte de Léchet" 2022 - James Suckling - 93/100
Very attractive ripe pear nose with hints of flint and white flowers. Excellent combination of depth and ripeness, with coolness and chalky minerality on the well-structured, medium-bodied palate. Beautiful interplay of restrained creaminess and delicate minerality in the long finish. Fermented and matured exclusively in stainless steel. Drink or hold. (Stuart Pigott, June 2024)
- Chablis 1er Cru "Côte de Lechet" 2022 - Burgundy Report, Bill Nanson - "Super wine"
Width of fresh yellow citrus and an impression of minerality - this has a nice invitation. Depth of mineral flavour. Chalky in style - almost luminous wine. Strong but elegant. Finishing well - super wine. (UK, March 2024)
- Chablis 1er Cru Côte de Léchet 2021 - Jame Suckling - July 2023 - 92/100
Biscuits, oyster shells, lemon rind and white grapefruit here. Touch of bitter fennel. Medium-bodied, bone-dry and focused. Lingering biscuity and citrus rind character. Drink now or hold.
- Chablis 1er Cru "Côte de Léchet" 2021 - Vert de Vin - June 2023 - 16 / 92-93
The nose is nicely mineral, precise, fresh and offers a small tense side as well as a discreet chalky side (in the background). It reveals notes of crunchy flat peach, white flowers and small notes of fresh acacia combined with touches of zest, fresh lime and a mineral/chalky side. The palate is fruity, elegant and offers juiciness, minerality, freshness, delicacy, a certain racy power, a good definition, tension, precision as well as a beautiful racy side. On the palate this wine expresses notes of crunchy, fresh flat peach, small juicy white fruits and small notes of white flowers associated with slight hints of starfruit, lemon as well as small chalky hints and an imperceptible almost grapefruit hint. Good length.
- Chablis 1er Cru "Côte de Léchet" 2021 - The World of Fine Wines - April 2023 - 86/100
Slim and bright, with lime-flower aromas. Straight and pure, with an attractive pithy bitterness to finish. 2023-2026
- Chablis 1er Cru Côte de Léchet 2021 - Tim Atkin - February 2023 - 91/100
- Chablis 1er Cru "Côte de Léchet" 2021 - Burgundy Report Bill Nanson - February 2023
The first nose where I can say 'yes!' Crystal clean with a suggestion of sucrosity in the citrus energy. A slightly rustic first wave of flavour but tons of energy like a ragged young puppy while the middle and finishing flavours are super, even a little chalky. Great character and a super wine too.
- Chablis 1er Cru "Côte de Léchet" 2020 - July 2022 - James Suckling - 93/100
A very classic Premier Cru Chablis with the chalky austerity we expect from these wines. Excellent depth of candied citrus-peel and wild-herb flavors, the minerality underlined by fine tannins at the impressively long finish. Drink or hold.
- Chablis 1er Cru "Côte de Léchet" 2019 - 93 pts - James Suckling - July 2021
The full and ripe citrus nose is matched by the same character on the quite expansive, creamy palate. A touch of caramel, but it remains so fresh and the long finish is decisively dry. Drink or hold.
- Chablis 1er Cru "Côte de Léchet" 2019 - 90 pts - IWSC 2021 winners
- Chablis 1er Cru "Côte de Léchet" 2018 - James Suckling - 91 points
Lime zest, wet stone, biscuit and peach pit on the nose. It's medium-bodied with tangy acidity. Flint and lemon pith on the finish. Tight. Drink now.
- Côte de Léchet Premier Cru 2015 Chablis - 16.5/20 - Jancis Robinson - January 2017
