Grand Auxerrois
The vineyards of the Grand Auxerrois offer a wide range of appellations and grape varieties.
Maison Simonnet-Febvre also produces and vinifies wines from the historic Yonne vineyards. these vineyards were destroyed when the phylloxera crisis hit the area in the 19th century. It has progressively been replanted and has today regained its prestige.
Simonnet-Febvre offers a wide range of village appellations from these vineyards - Saint-Bris, Irancy - as well as regional appellations such as Bourgogne Epineuil made of Pinot Noir, Bourgogne Vézelay made of Chardonnay and Bourgogne Aligoté made of the grape of the same name.
Saint-Bris: This is the only AOC white wine of Burgundy made of Sauvignon Blanc. A popular wine, it is lovely and easy to drink with fresh aromas of exotic fruits, cut grass and citrus fruits.
Irancy: This red wine comes from vineyards planted on a terroir that is located on marl-rich slopes. It is made of a blend of Pinot Noir with a maximum of 10% César. César is an unusual and ancient grape variety which gives power anda deep colour. This wine is ruby red in colour, has aromas of red fruits and has smooth tannins.
White Bourgogne Chitry: This wine, made of Chardonnay, has fresh fruit and white flower aromas. In the mouth it is bright and persistent.
Red Bourgogne Côtes d'Auxerre: Planted on the top of slopes with Southerly / South-Easterly exposures, this wine, made from Pinot Noir, is very aromatic and round.
