Coteaux de l'Auxois
A unique terroir perfectly adapted to the Chardonnay and Auxerrois grape varieties.
After experiencing the splendour of the Court of Versailles, this area was over nearly 4,500 hectares in 1830. It was damaged by the phylloxera epidemic, two world wars and the rural exodus. Forgotten since the 19th century, the area of the Auxois finally got the certification of Indication Géographique Protégée "Coteaux de l'Auxois" in 1996 which is proof of its unaltered potential and a reason to believe in its rebirth.
With the purchase of 15 hectares of vineyards on the villages of Villaines-les-Prévôtes and Viserny, Maison Simonnet-Febvre shows its willingness to develop the Coteaux de l'Auxois and reinvigorate the area.
Our 25 year-old vines enjoy beautiful southeasterly exposures, are mainly trained in lyre style and only hand-picked.
Esprit de Lyre: The unusual grape variety known as Auxerrois offers a fine and very fruity wine, with aromas of citrus perfectly suited for the aperitif.
Saveurs de Lyre: This blend of our grape varieties from the Auxois reveals a pleasant and harmonious wine with a long aromatic finish.
Quintessence de Lyre: This Chardonnay has a complex nose combining white flowers, citrus and pear. The palette is initially crisp but rounds off well on the finish.
